just seems to me that people are acting like its a feature that shouldn't be on a phone rather then one that is almost standard. it also just seems that IM's are quicker conversations then texts, but maybe i'm wrong about that cause on phones it's pretty much the same thing.

The 3G iPod opened the doors to all users. The mini added even more style and portability to it, making it very popular. The nano held even more songs in a smaller package with a color screen. The 5G iPod delivered all of the above with the ability to watch TV shows and movies on it. Each iPod has brought something to the table that's new and kept competitors guessing what they would do next. Advertising an iPhone, a major step for them, with instant messaging won't cut it. That's already out there. Up until the release of the 5G iPod, you couldn't buy TV shows legally on the internet. Instant messaging on your phone is offered by all of Apple's potential competitors should they decide to enter the mobile phone market.
yea, but i think that if they do a full tiny keyboard, they will be going for something similar to a sidekick. the sidekick 3 was a major let down.
I love the Sidekick. It's been a hugely successful phone. I think it was great that the SK3 added music, a 1.3 MP shooter, and EDGE, but I do agree they could have at least kept EDGE in there. I think Apple would be smart to make a device similar to the Sidekick. This doesn't mean that they need to make a swiveling screen, (even though it's been patented a million times by Danger) but I think people are starting to warm up to smartphones now. My generation (teen) and my sister's (early 20's) are especially. I have heard that Apple may be launching two devices: one simple phone and a smartphone, which is probably smart because not everyone is interested in a smartphone.

Don't be daft, Samsung are the suppliers because they gave the best price.
Samsung will also be locked into supply contracts anyway, and they interfered with them, Samsung would be in a world of hurt, not just from Apple and litigation, but every other company they supply.
And don't you believe there aren't alternatives for Apples component supplies either - every company that can build something that Samsung already does has been on the phone this week to Apple.
The end result in all of this is that Samsung are putting at risk an $8bn turnover for copying a customers phone design.
Even if Samsung win any of these suits, Samsung will lose the $8bn turnover, and will hand their component rivals the same amount.
The question at the end of the day is whether the Galaxy/Tab/S/S2 are really worth $8bn a year - which they aren't.
So who loses? Samsung every time.
Heres the clue - never sue your customer.
And you are just proving how little you understand the market in that area.

Is there a solution for Hamachi yet ?
The HamachiX Client won't work because parts of it rely on PowerPC processes, which are not supported by 10.7.

I thought it was very interesting to have a first hand experience. He seemed to offer two main arguments; torture isn't very effective, and it is morally wrong.
For me only the second point matters, I think too much emphasis is put on whether torture works or not. If it did would that make it right? I think the morality of it is much more important. Torture is wrong regardless of its utility.

Personally I dislike the F series BMWs. From afar I don't know if it's a decent looking run of the mill Japanese car or an actual BMW. The E39 5 series I do agree with being just tits though. I think the E36 3 series usually look like junkers unless they are in pristine condition, which most seem to be utterly abused. Bring back the E46 style headlights and rear, with the very distinct OVAL kidneys.
My favorite car of all time as its truly lightweight AND nutty HP/Torque unlike the Veyron which is just heavy and nutty HP/Torque:

Stylus-focused tablets failed in no small part because of the easily-lost one-more-thing-to-fiddle-with can't-function-without-it stylus requirement. So, Apple built a tablet that didn't need it. Insofar as a few people do need a stylus for limited applications, third parties make them. Buy one if you need it; nobody is stopping you but you.
Yeah except Photoshop is for people like me so it is relevant. Also work on your anger management classes.

I just want subscriptions on my iPad and the main point is, whether you agree or disagree with Apple's opt-in policy, this is still a major sticking point with many publications. Of all the magazine/newspaper apps I use on my iPad only 2 have adopted the new subscription policy. NYT was one of those but I deleted it because those prices were insane. I just want subscription options from Wired, Popular Mechanics and Sports Illustrated. I don't care about Apple's policy, I don't care if the publisher gets my info or not... I just want subscriptions!!!!!! I have stopped and will never pay another $5 per issue for anything on the iPad. Subscriptions or nothing!

There seems to be a lot of confusion between morality and reality in this thread. Let me give a real life experience as example and comparison.
This past week my children's DVD players were stolen from our vehicle. You know, the kind that attach to the back of the head rest in the automobile. We bought them for long trips, but recently my wife put them in for an extended day of driving with the kids. We had a conversation in which I told her, "honey, we need to take those out of the car now because they can clearly be seen through the windows and that could be all the 'invitation' needed for someone to take them". Guess what happened a few days later, they were stolen.
It disgusts, angers, and frustrates me that someone would steal from my children. I feel violated that someone feels it is okay for them to take something that they have no right to.

What is weird though is that I just ran geekbench and got a score of 764 with only 256mb ram compared with 732 when I had 512md ram :confused:
could it be that the dodgy dimm was registering its capacity but hindering the machine in the geekbench tests due to it being faulty?
Geekbench isn't super consistent with it's scores in my experience. Xbench is even worse. I have seen GB waver as much as 30-40 points in identical situations.
The best benchmarks for consistency which is exactly what you need in a benchmark:
Cinebench (CPU and Hardware/Software Graphics)
SuperPrime (prime number CPU bench)
PowerFractal (Altivec)
OpenMark (3D video)
Let 1000 Windows Bloom (2D video)
QuickBench (hard disk)
