I just received an email from USCIS saying that my I-140 has been denied. I touched base with the attorney & she has not yet received any documentation from USCIS. This has been the 1st change in my status since Aug 07. My case is pending at TSC.
Does anyone know if this is a fairly common occurance for USCIS to deny I-140 without an RFE? Any advise on what to do next?

140 can be denied for various reasons. These days, 140 is getting denied for Ability to pay or educational qualifications and job description mismatch and so many other things.
Unless you get the letter in hand, you may not be able to know the reason for denial. 140 denial goes to employer and Attorney. So contact them and they will know.

Are you sure she is talking about EB immigration on Apr1st, the day when USCIS starts receiving H1B lotto applications? I will be surprised if networks are willing to talk NON H1B issues on APR 1st.

neither lawyer nor employer received Labor Hard Copy until today. I missed I-140 Premium
Processing because of Hard copy.
I signed one page of the original document (which the employer/lawyer should send to you)
before filing your I-140.

Hi,
My spouse (Indian citizen) has received an RFE for her derivative I485 application.
Her birth certificate has a different first name than her passport. We had filed the birth certificate and an affidavit from her parents attesting to the change. But that doesn't seem to be sufficient.
The RFE states:
"Your birth certificate indicates that your first name is XXX and not YYY. Please explain and submit additional documentation in support of your claim".
...
"Copies of the personal pages in your passport OR affidavits are not sufficient to establish a legal name change. Court documents submitted as evidence of name change must have been registered with the proper civil authority".
We now plan to submit the following:
1. Court Affidavit filed by my spouse's father at that time of legal name change, at age 3. This affidavit was before a Sessions Judge in India. This was the legal process of changing her name at that time.
Will this be sufficient? We don't understand what it means for a court document to be registered with the proper civil authority. Can you please advice?
2. My spouse has a Certificate of Age, Domicile and Nationality issued by the State Goverment of Maharashtra that refers to the new first name and also refers to the birth certificate as well, as proof.
Will that count as sufficient "registration with civil authority"?
I would appreciate if someone who has go through this issue would comment on the proper ways of addressing this.

I know that there are too many threads open initiating new campaigns, and asking the IV administrators to make the threads sticky. However there is something that we can demand as part of administrative reforms at USCIS, without any need for congressional relief.
When any type of application reaches USCIS, it kinda goes into a black hole. Unless there is a decision on the application, all an applicant do is to cross the figures, and hope that the outcome will be favorable. Worst, sometimes people with later priority date get the approval, and the all a victim with pretty much straight forward case can do is self consolation.
We all know that there is a USCIS case login page, which allows us to create a portfolio and track the case approval. But the information provided by this site is really basic (Informing the applicant that the application was received on such and such date, and its pending for processing at our processing center). Why can't we ask USCIS to improve this portal, so that an applicant can view the details of the case like FP, background check result, priority date, associated 140 status, etc. I am giving this example for a 485 application, but this service can be provided for all other types of cases like H1B, EAD, AP, 140, 485, Labor Certification, etc.
BTW, I saw a note on immigration-law.com, and according to them its a just four (yes only four) member team which is managing their information technology at USCIS. On a lighter note, I feel like creating an Open Source software consortium which will develop the software to add in efficient case processing and better services, where USCIS can download the source code to enable faster deployment of customer services portals.
Anyway, fun apart, I think we should start a campaign to get more meaningful information from customer portal: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp
This way the case processing would be more transparent, an applicant will have more information about the case, the number of phone calls USCIS receive will go down substantially, and people like us will have much more peace of mind. I am using swift 3D and am having trouble achieving my goal. I want on of my objects to go through 2 regular spins while the other object goes through a different regular spin. I have no problem ungrouping them or assingning the original spins. I then moved the keyframes to half of what they were defaulted to in my object that I want to go twice around. But now I cant copy the keyfames or add another spin onto the end. does anyone even know what I'm talking about let alone how to solve my problem? Thanks

Hi all!
Wat would be the status of F1 student (OPT) mother of a US born baby after her visa expires, who is a single parent???
Well you have sufficient time for the OPT to finish, but say you are at the end of your OPT you need to find a job which does h1b so that you have a valid visa status (or) continue your education so that you have another study visa.
Say you want to go back to your home country, then make sure you have proper visa for your kid to enter your home country. Say your home country is India, then you need to file PIO Card for your kid or get a indian visa for your kid before you enter your home country, because your kid is a US Citizen and needs permit to enter in to your home country.

If the priority dates are not current for the category in which your parents are seeking a green card, then they will have to wait for the priority dates to become current before they can apply I-485. You can check the Visa Bulletin for more info.

I should clarify 2 items on the poll:

Now I am trying to change my attorney since my ex employee's attorney will not talk to me and all the RFEs will still go to him unless I file a G-28 form. But all the attorneys I talked to is asking for that LCA form from my previous employer.
My question to you is are you able to find an attorney to represent you since you changed the job?..
